It’s been 11 years since Qatar Airways first landed a plane in New York City. Qatar Airways’s first flight to the US landed in JFK on June 28, 2007, which was followed by service to Washington D.C., the following month. To celebrate, the company hosted a private VIP gala dinner in New York, and invited several influential business leaders and political dignitaries.

“We have a very special relationship with the people of New York, as it was our first gateway into this country just over 10 years ago (…). We (…) continue to develop strong relationships with our U.S. partners including JetSuite, Boeing, G.E. and Gulfstream. Tonight we reaffirm our commitment to build on the strong relationship we have already established here in the U.S., and to continue to expand our presence here, offering an outstanding product and providing even more choice for U.S. travelers” – said Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker.

Last year, to celebrate its 10th year of service to NYC, the company illuminated the iconic Empire State Building in its signature burgundy and white colours.
