The national carrier of Rwanda will start operating flights to China in June. The new route will serve the city of Guangzhou, the third largest in China, three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sunudays. The route will help facilitate the growing economic ties between China and Africa.

With the increasing volume of trade between African countries and China, the need to meet the strong demand of businessmen and traders traveling between Africa and Guangzhou is strongly felt. This new route will open up new business opportunities and increase our passenger and freight traffic, said Yvonne Manzi Makolo, CEO of Rwandair.

The first flight will be inaugurated on June 18th and it will be operated by Airbus A330.

RwandAir is the national carrier of Rwanda and is 77% owned by the Rwandan government. It currently flies to 28 destinations around the world. Guangzhou will be the airline’s second destination in Asia, following Mumbai.
