Against all the odds, Qatar Airways continue to go from strength to strength. Qatar hasn’t had it easy lately. For over a year now Qatar has been subject to a blockade from most of its neighboring countries in the Gulf. Despite this, the airline is still doing incredibly well.

Qatar Airways’ most recent achievements

Qatar now flies to more than 150 destinations, with 11 new routes added in the last year. Also in the last year the airline has ordered another 200 planes from Boeing. With a bill coming in at around $20.2 billion it’s certainly a sign that Qatar isn’t short of cash! That’s not all though, a deal has also been confirmed with Airbus for 37 of their new A350-1000s.

An award winning airline

It isn’t just all about the extra routes and shiny new planes though, what’s really important is the customer experience, and Qatar has certainly excelled in this department too. When it comes to awards, Qatar always seems to stand out from the crowd. It’s recently won the SkyTrax Airline of the Year Award. An accolade it has managed to achieve four times since 2010, as well as the Best Business Class Award for the innovative Qsuite concept.

A focus on customer service

Fly with Qatar Airways and you’ll notice the difference. Of course their award winning Business Class service has made the news lately, but even in economy you get a really decent sized seat and the same Oryx in-flight entertainment offering as those seated in Business Class with access to more than 4000 movies, TV shows, games and music. There are also lots of little extras that do really make the difference, especially on a long flight. There’s good food, and even popcorn to nibble on while you watch a movie.

Qatar Airways has grown up so fast

Qatar Airways only really became a player in international aviation in 1997. It has achieved so much in such a short time, surpassing those airlines that have been around for decades longer.

Whatever next?

Even when up against adversity, Qatar seems to just brush it off, ever moving onward and upwards. Where this will take the award winning airline next is anyone’s guess, but we surely haven’t seen the last of Qatar Airways’ trend-setting innovations. The coming years will certainly be interesting to see what it comes up with next to further improve the experience for all of us.
