Austrian Airlines, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, announced on Thursday that it would invest 200 million euros in Airbus aircraft in order to expand its fleet and better compete with low-cost carriers. Austrian wants to expand its fleet of 36 Airbus (7 Airbus A319, 23 Airbus A320 and 6 Airbus A321) to 46 aircraft. At the same time, Austrian airline is expected to stop using its 18 Bombardier Q400 fleet by 2021.
