Business class has just stepped up a gear with the launch of the QSuite from Qatar Airways. Unveiled in March 2017 at ITB in Berlin, the roll out has begun. The positive feedback from those lucky enough to have flown in them thus far cements Qatar Airways’ position as an airline to be reckoned with.
The business class market is a tough audience to win over. Frequent fliers expect to have a relaxing ride and get some work done. That seat has to multitask. It has to be equally adept at getting the elbowroom right when the laptop’s out as it is at offering a comfortable night’s sleep when the shades go down. When you’re paying a significant amount extra to fly up front, you want to be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.
What is Qsuite?
Qsuite is Qatar Airways’s signature new Business Class. Qsuite boasts a number of features that have taken business class travel to a whole new level, and helping the company become not only the best business class airline, but also the one that has the best business class seats. QSuite is a confident step that says Qatar Airways understands this market and will take care of it. All seats are equipped with closing doors, for maximum privacy. Center seats can be configured into private spaces for socialising or meetings. Two seats can be combined into a double bed.
Which Qatar Airways flights have the Qsuite?
Qsuite is available on the following flights:
- Doha to Bangkok flights QR830 and QR832
- Bangkok to Doha flights QR831 and QR833
Initially, the revolutionary suites have been fitted on the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and were first seen on the carrier’s Doha-London and Doha-Paris routes. Since then, the new planes have been introduced on North American routes from New York’s JFK as well, with Washington-Dulles waiting in the wings. Each 777 has 42 QSuites on board. Split between two cabins, one with six rows of four and the other with five rows of four, it’s an intimate experience.
What’s got tongues wagging? The flexible configuration has something for everyone – side seats are secluded, while central seats are set closer together, giving passengers the option of transforming them into a double bed. Such luxury comes at a price, of course, but for that special occasion, this is a business class offering that has the romance factor in spades – making it the perfect honeymoon treat.
It’s not just newlyweds that will be impressed. Adjustable panels, movable entertainment monitors and sliding doors facilitate convivial suites for socialising or dining, as well as private meeting space for the executive on the go. Seats are more than generous in proportion, with a generous 21.5 inch width and a flat bed recline that takes you to 79 inches, enough to keep those over 6 foot tall happy. Add to the mix full size pillows, quilted mattresses and soft duvets and you know you’re in for a comfortable ride.
Amenity kits also scream quality. The White Company take care of the sleepwear on overnight routes, while skincare products come courtesy of Castello Monte Vibiano to ensure you reach your destination feeling fresh and hydrated. But it’s the attention to detail that nails it: universal adaptors and USB ports of course, a Do Not Disturb light and ambient lighting to help counter the effects of jetlag. Touch screen entertainment with over 4000 entertainment choices and the facility to upload your own playlist more than take care of the boredom factor on the longer routes.
This isn’t just business class. It’s a treat for business class veterans. Qatar Airways’ competitors are going to have to sit up and take notice.
