This week, Qatar Airways launched direct flights between Doha and İzmir, in Turkey. The national airline of Qatar will fly to Izmir three times a week.

95 passengers were on board the inaugural Doha-Izmir flight. They were greeted with flowers on arrival at Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir.

Sylvain Bosc, vice-president of Qatar Airways Europe, said that Izmir was Qatar Airways’ seventh destination in Turkey, and that Qatar Airways would use Airbus A320s for the destination. The aircraft will fly up to 132 passengers, three times a week.

Currently, Qatar Airways flies to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (21 times a week), Istanbul Airport (14 times a week), Adana Airport (three times a week) and the Ankara Airport (five times a week). It also flies to Bodrum and Antalya during the summer. Besides, Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s third largest international cargo carrier, flies to Istanbul 3 times a week.

36 airlines fly from Izmir airport, covering 55 destinations in 30 countries around the world. In 2018, the airport hosted 13.5 million domestic and international passengers.

Qatar Airways was named best airline in the world in 2019. It was also ranked number 1 in the ranking of the best business class airlines in 2019.
