Which are the airlines with the largest seats? When you step onto the plane for your long haul flight it can be pretty exciting. You’re off on an adventure, a holiday of a lifetime or an important business trip. But when you’re sat on a plane for hours on end, the novelty can soon wear off if your seat just isn’t comfortable and you feel too cramped. Carefully choosing which airline you fly with when you’re on a long journey can really make all the difference to how you feel when you arrive at your destination. To avoid starting your vacation with a bad back, aches and pains and feeling exhausted and irritable, take a look at some of the airlines that offer the largest seats…

Here are the five airlines with the largest seats:

Japan Airlines

Take a trip on a Japan Airlines 777-300, which is currently the second biggest passenger plane in the world, right after the soon-to-be-retired A380, and you’ll be sitting comfortably. These seats have a very generous 34 inch pitch and a really good width of 19 inches. Even if you’re fairly short, and leg room isn’t too much of a problem for you, width can still be an issue. With Japan Airlines you won’t feel as if you’re virtually sitting on the knee of the person next to you.

Singapore Airlines

A flight on Singapore Airlines A380 also gives you a decent width seat at 19 inches wide, so you won’t be bumping elbows when you’re trying to read a book. The pitch isn’t as great as that offered by Japan Airlines, but it is a reasonable 32 inches.

Oman Air

The Oman Air A330-300 has seats with a 34 inch pitch. That’s pretty good in these days of ever decreasing seat sizes. The width on these flights is 18 inches, which isn’t too bad either.

Korean Air

With a pitch of 33-34 inches and a width of just over 18 inches, the Korean Air 747-8 is another fair choice if in-flight comfort is your priority.

Qatar Airways

Fly with Qatar Airways on the 777-200LR and you’ll be able to relax in a seat that gives you 33 inches of legroom and is just under 19 inches wide.

Sometimes comfort can be the most important factor

When you’re choosing an airline to fly with, you’re likely to take various factors into consideration. Price is often very important when you’re booking flights, you may want to avoid any indirect flights, and you may be keen to fly from your nearest airport at a time that suits you best. However, these may all fade into insignificance if you’re travelling for many hours in an uncomfortable seat. Perhaps in-flight comfort and seat size should be pushed up your list of priorities next time you’re researching flights!
