Qatar Airways has confirmed a deal to buy five Boeing 777 freighters, as well as engines and maintenance from GE Aviation, a deal worth more than $5 billion according to Reuters. The order of the five Boeings had been announced at Paris Air Show few weeks before.

While confirming the order of five Boeing 777F worth $1.8 billion, Qatar Airways announced the launch of three new routes for Qatar Airways Cargo, its freight division: Hanoi to Dallas, Chicago to Singapore and Singapore to Mexico via Los Angeles. The 777F has the longest range of any twin-engined freighter. It can fly up to 9,070 km with a payload capacity of 102 metric tonnes, which translates into significant savings on long-haul routes.
