Qatar Airways has announced the launch of its new direct flights to Gaborone, Botswana, from October 27 2019.

The airline will carry up to 247 people in Economy Class and up to 36 in Business Class, three times per week. The new destination will be operated by an Airbus A350-900.

Our new service to the enchanting city of Gaborone will enable us to provide a seamless journey to and from Botswana, for passengers connecting from our extensive network of more than 160 destinations worldwide.” commented Akbar Al Baker, the group CEO of Qatar Airways.

Where is Botswana

Gaborone is the capital of Botswana and its airport handles accounts for most air passenger traffic (51.6%) in Botswana. The country, which used to be one of the poorest is the world, has transformed itself into Formerly one of the world’s fastest-growing economies thanks to mining, cattle and tourism. Its GDP per capita has grown from a $70 GDP per capita in the late 60s to $19k GDP per capita, one of the highest in Africa.

Qatar Airways has recently launched other new destinations in Africa, including direct flights to Rabat, Morocco and direct flights to Mogadishu, Somalia. Qatar Airways was recently voted best airline in the world. It also came first in the best business class airlines ranking in 2019.
